Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: I followed the instructions on the topsy turvy class, but chose to change the angles back and forth to assure the stability of the cake, since the hat was a tall tier. The cake on top was the birthday boy smash cake.

Hi there again. I was just wondering, is the pole placed in the center of the bottom cake or on the side as Russel demonstrated on the Topsy Turvy class? I absolutely love this cake of yours.

Yes, the pole is place in the center. (You should only do that if you change the direction of each tier back and forth, otherwise follow the instructions in the video. ) and THANK YOU so much for your kind words!!

Hi I love your cake !! how did u make the hat ?

02/24/2014 Flag

Thank you :)) The hat is a 6" cake, I stacked more layers to get a taller cake, and then carved it in an angle. The base of the cake is an 8" cake board covered in fondant. I covered the cake with red fondant and then put the white stripes on. I didn't really have to be precise here. To finish the look I just drew the black lines with a black edible pen.
