What was your inspiration?

I decided to make Mum a cushion too! I know everyone is getting cushions!!!!!!!! I also made her a matching Mug Rug:)

I saw this mug rug on Darcy-SewFunDay projects which she had made out of the scraps from the August BOM scraps. Mum with me the day I was piecing the little mug rug and it was then I decided this would be part of her Christmas present.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of the little mug rug which Amy suggested we do as an extra project rather than waste the little half-squared triangles.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I have tried to find the tutorial for the little mug rug on Amy Gibson's webpage at Stitchery-Dickory-Dock but couldn't find it... Sorry. If you study mine you can see how to make it or make up your own design. Great way of not wasting fabric.

Beautiful! I remember awhile back you told me you would make this project. If you remember I did a dresden table runner from the same fabrics. I really like how your pillow and mug rug look. I liked seeing your mom in the picture too. Mom's just love getting homemade gifts from their daughters!

Are you doing the new BOM? I never thought I would hear myself say this, I wish I had not seen the finished product. I got overwhelmed and decided to do it the way we did last month. Plan the colors, one block at a time.

You areally are the Cushion Queen, Desna - and thank you for your picture of the Cushion Queen Mother - she looks to be a very sweet lady! Well done with the Mug Rug - I've got all those little leftover pits saved in a Tesco sandwich bag, so now I know what to do with them - although to spill coffee or tea on it would break my heart! BOM 2013? Oh, goodness! I must go and investigate! Happy New Year!

Yep Pat I must be the cushion queen by now!!!!! I have been making them for mum, 2 daughters, and myself. I have even taught my two daughters to make some and even my son who wanted to make a nurse one as a gift in the hospital where he works. And yes my mum is a very sweet and very special lady, 84 years young:) Be sure to put your mug rug up when finished.

so cute. You inspire me to get my act together and get back to projects. I have been making corn bags and should be done with that in a few days. Corn bags are made from rectangles of unbleached muslin and they are filled with white feed corn. I make flannel pillow cases for them. You put them in the microwave for about 2.5 minutes. Great for hurting bodies. taking the chill off a bed. I call them warmies.

You are all way ahead of me. I have signed up for so many wonderful classes that I can't keep up with them but I hope there is more room in 2013 to quilt. Your cushion and mug rug are beautiful. I love the soft colors you used in them.
