Oh, and I have to say that for your very first design you did we'll. I have been crocheting and knitting for years and years and never managed to dream up a pattern. Along with a couple other pattern makers, you inspire me to create my own. I am sitting here trying to figure out how you made this but of course, nothing beats the actual pattern! Hi all, a thousand sorry for all the trouble everyone is facing in downloading the file. I've removed the link from My Free Pattern, instead I'm now using another method of sharing the file online, and the link to download the file is available inside the blog post. Hope this helps! And about the problem of viewing the videos, I'm guessing it could be the problem of browser as I'm able to view them on Firefox and Google Chrome but not in Internet Explorer.

Hi Catherine, sorry for late reply. Yes, the first stitch is the facing side, while 2nd is the back side. So always knit the odd number stitches while purl the even number stitches. And since this is a double sided pattern, it doesn't matter whichever color comes first, as long as follow the pattern. Hope this answer your question.

To download the pattern, please click the link in the "Pattern Info", this will open up a new window to my blog post on the scarf. The PDF for the pattern is located on the right column, underneather the "My Pattern Here!", then click the Double Knitting Snowflakes Scarf, and it will pop-up a window which you can now view the pattern, if you wish to download, please look for the "down arrow" button located on the right bottom corner of the new window (between the Share button and Print button), click on it and you can now save the PDF to wherever you like. I'm more than halfway through with this gorgeous piece; using Caron Simply Soft in blue and white (so snowflakey!). I added an extra K-P combination stitch at each end, twisted the yarn right before those last two stitches then slipped them at the end of each row. This is giving it a lovely edge. This is a truly beautiful pattern, very creative and balanced. Learning the double-knit process was a breeze with your instructions, and I'm eager to make more of these! (We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization; I was considering offering the completed scarf for sale on our little web store, but is that okay? Would of course give proper credit for the design to you!) Thanks for your efforts; I think you are an excellent teacher and a terrific designermore, more!!

Just curious..how long is the scarf? Did you adjust your length for your granddaughter? I am making a different pattern now..and knew that the last one I made for my son was too short for his 6 foot tall height! :)

Thank you for sharing this beautiful pattern. This is the first time I have attempted two-sided knitting and I am really enjoying it. However, I am very disappointed in the way my edges are turning out. They are not smooth and even like on your scarf. I am getting big ugly end stitches every time there is a color change at the end of the row. Is there a technique or trick you used to prevent this from happening and to keep your edges neat? Thanks for your help!

I do understand your problem and if you look close enough, my end st was kind of big too. What I tried was on every first st of the row, just twist the yarns once and pull tight to avoid having an opening between two surfaces, this will tighten a bit on the end st of the previous row too, then try to stretch the edge a bit while knitting, it will help too. But it won't be obvious when u finish the scarf. Hope this helps.

It appears I have been lucky to catch this one "late in the game" so to speak ... Many thanks Cloudy for sharing your pattern and tutorials at no charge. I've wanted to learn to do double knitting for quite sometime :) Also, while I was on your site I noticed your bunny pattern. The knitting gild I'm in is making small toys for the children in the local battered women and children's shelter for one of our charity projects this year. Beautiful scarf that I'd love to try, but I've never followed a chart or done double-knitting -- even though I consider myself an intermediate-level knitter. Your videos are very helpful but I guess I won't start out trying to knit from a chart while doing double-knitting for the 1st time....

Thanks for the compliment. I think you should give it a try as the chart is just basically telling you when to change color for front and back, but the steps are still the same - knit the front st and purl the back st.

Hi all, sorry for the confusion but I just found out that the download link in the blog only works for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, not with Internet Explorer. I've also revised the PDF with bigger font based on some comments. Hope this helps!

Often downloading and saving the pdf document on hard drive first will allow the system to then open it, even with IE.

it's too bad i haven't a PhD. in technobabble. i am very impressed with the look of the finished product but cannot find anything but bits of incomplete information. i have now wasted 45 minutes on this and am so frustrated that if i were given the scarf now completed i could not stand to wear it!

That's just unnecessarily nasty. This is a free, extremely well done pattern and all the necessary information is there. Considering the amount of hours this designer has put into the design and sharing it with us all, please keep hostile comments to yourself and come back once you've gotten you PhD (which none of us others have, btw)

If we don't have enough computer savvy, our computers and the way they work can be extremely frustrating. It's important to remember that this is a first effort in presenting a pattern and a very good one despite the initial problems some are having. This pattern is beautiful enough to have been sold instead of shared freely. It is my hope that once you give yourself time to lose the frustration, you will ask Cloudy Land for help and not miss out in enjoying the fun of making this scarf, and then its beauty. There are a lot of good suggestions in the comments to help you. I wish you success.

Hi, I just figured out what is wrong with the pattern. I tried using internet explorer and it doesn't like the program. I went onto googlechrome and it worked just fine. It might be that your computer program isn't compatible with the program for the pattern. I got the idea of trying googlechrome after trying to watch a YouTube video and it would't work. When I did the exact same process on googlechrome, it worked fine. Hope this helps.

HELP PLEASE>>> downloaded the pattern *(finally took 4 trys) and the font is so tiny I can't read it, I enlarge it on the screen but it prints tiny...I've scanned and tried to enlarge that, no success. I really want to knit this scarf...why is this pattern giving everyone fits??? Why can't it just be easy to download and big enough to read?? Thank you for all help anyone can send along!

I've been wanting to try a double knitted scarf. Your pattern is really cute and the videos look very helpful. I think I could do this now! One problem. Sometimes the printed instructions in the "Knitting the Pattern" video are obscured against the gray background of the scarf.

There IS a PDF! You have to go to the right side bar on her blog and click on "MY PATTERN HERE" and a new window pops up with it. I was able to download it but you also need to bookmark her site so you can refer to her videos for different techniques. I wish she would give instruction row by row but I also realize that would probably be 10 pages long so the videos and diagrams on the PDF are helpful.

Hi Lynn and advice on how to make the font large enough to read? I've opened the Adobe file, enlarged it, it still prints teeny tiny, can't read it. I've printed it out, scanned and tried to enlarge it, no luck. I really want to knit this scarf~just can't figure out how to do it.
