I started making smaller 9 Patches not knowing what I was going to make and this quilt just evolved into what you see today!

How big were your patches? Look like small ones about 2.5, ending up 2"

I did a denim squares quilt, added red borders. You don't want to make the squares too small in denim.

I'm in love with the colors, one of my husbands Aunt's just died who was a life long quilter. Her daughter gave me the very fist quilt she ever made in 1939, and it is a nine patch.

Now that is very cute. And I can see the butterflies. Thanks for this idea. I have some odds and ends 9 patch blocks using scraps, you know when you can't throw those small pieces away after a project. Bet I could put it together similar to this.

I used 2.5 inch strips so they finished 2 inches I believe.

Turned out GREAT! I just recently made a Noah's Ark one using 4 small squares for my Faith Formation Director who just had a little boy. I had gotten a small amount of the material a while ago and packed it away. This must have been the reason why!
