What materials did you use? Cotton blend fabric, rayon thread, colored pencils (Crayola!)

What advice would you give someone starting this project? I'm not sure if crayola are the best pencils to use. I did use a prismacolor blender, and it worked ok, but I had trouble laying down the colors and getting the blender to move them. I may pick up a few prismacolors to see if it's the pencils or the fabric.

I like how it came out - the shading on the flower and the curved straight quilting background lines especially. Nicely done:-)
