What was your inspiration?
I owned a doll shop. When I saw the change and the peace these dolls gave as the women held them I knew it was time to close the doll shop and focus on creating a nonprofit that couls help make it possible to get these dolls in the arms of these dear people.
What are you most proud of?
More than 400 dolls have found their homes in the arms of their new moms who were afraid their babies had been lost to them forever.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
There are different ways to approach making your doll. You can start with a Lee Middleton which is a beautiful premade doll, you then use the oil paints to bring the features to life, including painted nail tips, eyes, mouth, blusjhing etc. You can buy a kit and purchase a wig then assemble and paint or you can actually root the hair yourself.
