What advice would you give someone starting this project? This dress was made for an 18-20" doll, but would work equally well for a newborn baby, However, I would not put the roses on the dress for safety reasons. Don't be frightened to adapt and change any pattern to suit your tastes. For example, booties are usually worked in dc's (US sc) or tr's (US dc's) to shape the foot but change to a decorative pattern around the ankles. At this point you can use any pattern you want as long as there are enough stitches to work on. Or you might like the sleeves of one sweater and the yolk of another dress. Its fine to put them together. Be brave and experiment!

Love the little outfit. Is there a pattern?

Thank you for the compliment. I rarely stick to a commercial pattern so it is hard to remember the whole pattern. I have a couple of favourite patterns for a basic bodice or yoke and select a stitch pattern for the skirt and sleeves from crochet instruction books - usually a variation of the shell stitch. If you can't find it, I can post the shell pattern in the instructions panel

Thank you! I appreciate the pattern. I am like you, I have a basic bodice and start of a hat that I use all the time.

Kathleen I'm afraid I made it up as I went. I have written out the lacy pattern for the skirt, sleeves etc, but you could use the basic pattern of any baby dress, booties and bonnet and just work this lacy pattern where you need to make the pattern. I hope that makes sense.
