What was your inspiration?

The dogwood blossom has always been a favorite of mine, and I noticed how the center of a granny square was similar to a dogwood flower. I played around with the idea and I think it worked out beautifully.

What are you most proud of?

How delicate it looks, yet how not so difficult it was to make. It is not a beginner project, but it looks more difficult than it is to make.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is not a beginner pattern. I highly recommend you be familiar with round ripples and with granny squares first. I have several free patterns to choose from, including a free online tutorial (with videos) to teach you to crochet. Check it all out at http://crochetbymonica.gather.com and follow me on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/crochetbymonica. God bless you every day!

Is this yarn the same as crystal acrylic yarn? It looks like a pompadour yarn! I see a metallic look to it.

You do not have to join to get the pattern - it is visible without joining. The printer friendly one is here: http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474977690137&grpId=3659174697252379

It is actually an afghan, but could be used as a doily as well.
