What was your inspiration?

The love of Lemoyne Star and as I had made quilts for a couple of sick fur babies, I thought it was time the "well" ones got a quilt too! Finn is a very special little lad whom we met when he was nearly a year old. 2 homes hadn't worked out for him, he desperately wanted to be loved and I wanted to keep him but alas the Sassy one wasn't impressed. He ended up with a friend of mine so I still get to see him regularly... lucky me! He's such a delightful little Shihtzu that it's hard to imagine how anyone could be cruel to him. He's always such a happy wee chap.

What are you most proud of?

I adapted the star to the size I wanted, not to mention gaining confidence in using stencils!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Fun doing little projects!

love this one too, but i imagine my dog would have other ideas. He still likes to chew. we have come up with that he has the idea, that i make pretty good quilts, now lets see if my 'mum' can repair them as good, hehe

Thanks heaps Desna! Stencils are a great way to gain a bit of confidence in your FMQ but this course takes you way beyond stencils. They're a great base tho! Use em or lose em.... to me LOL!

How much fun is this! I love how you crossed your designs over the seam lines...this adds lots of interest and movement...good job! I'm a fellow dog lover too...I can totally relate. :)

Thanks Cindy, I needed to keep the quilting simple and light so this was a perfect way to keep me under control LOL. I EBS'd it too ;-) I so want to get stuck in to my lessons tho... sounds like a new years resolution in the making eh?

Clever you - and lucky Finn! I haven't used stencils yet, despite having bought one a long time ago - at the time I hadn't got the idea of doing curves, but it somehow didn't look the same with angles when I attempted to try it out! This is lovely.

Thanks Patricia... my hands and brain aren't too well connected at the mo, so using stencils gives my hands direction without the thinking LOL. Also didn't want to heavily quilt it... and if I did it freehand I know it would end up that way! Love stencils now, thanks to Cindy!

I really like the quilting! Just wondering... I've never used stencils before; how did you mark it, with a chalk pencil or with a marker?

Hey if you've never used stencils before, think about taking Cindy's Design it, Quilt it class... she covers using stencils, including only bits of them as a base. I marked with a water erasable pen and a chaco liner. I really want to treat myself to a mechanical chalk pen tho!

This is really cute Pam. I zoomed in the picture for a while and was admiring the quilting when I wondered if you had used stencils - which I was going to ask about in my comment. Then I closed that big zoom and saw the stencils, hehe... I know, silly. Great job! :)

Oh, what fun with stencils! Looks great! Finn should be extremely pleased. But, wait, have you made Sassy a quilt? I hope she isn't feeling neglected - -

His Royal Dogness has three new chair quilts this year - enough! Plus he's tried to take over a quilt I left on the sofa. OK, OK, you know he got the chair quilts because I wanted to play with the patterns, but still - - -
