Difficulty:

Category: Home & Garden

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Casual

Materials

Base Cabinets: Heirloom Furniture Stripper, Varathane Wood Stain "Mission Oak", Minwax Polycrylic "Satin" Upper Cabinets/Crown Moulding: Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer/Sealer, Behr Interior Latex Paint "Semi Gloss", Polycrylic "Gloss", Bulkhead: Dynamic Dyna Patch, Behr Interior Paint "Eggshell". 3 bulb mini-pendant fixture

What was your inspiration?

Home Decor magazines and catalogues

What are you most proud of?

That on a budget and with four months of sweat equity, we were able to completely transform our kitchen ourselves.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Remove the doors from the cabinets. Work on a maximum of 4 doors at a time. Strip both sides of the doors first. Paint/Stain and varathane back side of doors and once completely dry, flip over and do the fronts. This is a slow tedious process but with patience, the results are so well worth it.

Beautiful! We recently had our kitchen gutted and redone, not a DIY, but so well worth it. I love your color choices!

Thank you Sheila! Our cabinets being of solid oak construction, we decided they were well worth a DIY rather than gut. We also installed rollers onto some of the shelves inside the cabinets for easier access. So well worth the cost!
