Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: Marshmallow Fondant - need a 1 lb marshmallow recipe to cover the Dino so be sure to color enough. White cake mix with veg oil. Presented challenges in carving but not insurmountable. Will try a pound cake or gluten free perhaps if I do another. I just hate to give up my light and fluffy texture. My cartoon dino has a wider muzzle ad narrow head so I turned the head around from the instructions. Covered the head platform under side with fondant, covered the head cake in fondant then put the head on the platform smooth the seam under to attempt a smooth transition. Needs some practice. when placing the skewers in head to platform, I left them sticking up a bit and placed the eyes over the sticks to help secure. Should have sunk the eyes in a bit into the narrow head and carved a bit more from muzzle to give more height to top of head. The cooking torch was fun. I didn't want to char but want the rough skin. The marshmallow fondant didn't bubble like the instructors fondant. This project was for my 3 yr old grandson and I had fun doing it. Need to a lot myself more time to do these projects. I know a lot went on behind the scenes to prep and speed the class along. The class was fantastic - ready to tackle another sculpture.
