Category: Cake Decorating

Type of item: Food

For: Boys

Style: Cute, Whimsical, Funky, Outdoorsy, Classic

Materials

marble cake, marshmallow fondant, butter cream frosting, wood dowel, silver foil, rise crispy whit chocolate

What was your inspiration?

This cake was madefora boy who loves excavators.

What are you most proud of?

This was a fun project. I have never tried anything like this , were I had to make a piece extend out from a cake. I have really learned a few new tricks, and ways I could improve on for the next one

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This cake took some work. the main body of the excavator is cake, including the bucket and the tracks. The arm extension is made out of rice crispys covered with fondant. I have wood dowels inside the arm extensions to make them sturdy. I also used rice crispys for the ground and covered it with a mix of brown and black fondant . I also made some rocks out of the fondant. To make the black tubing for the hydraulics I but fondant in a syringe.
