What was your inspiration?
My kids outgrew their desks so I decided to have some fun with my daughter's.
It was my childhood memories that inspired the Dick & Jane Desk.
The colors came from the rubber balls that were popular in some of our childhood's.
What are you most proud of?
I actually have the book that is illustrated on the desk top & I copied some of the illustrations in it for the desk top decoration.
The red, white & blue cup is the bottom of a shampoo bottle fashioned into a pencil holder.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I have learned not to use fill in all the cracks of older furniture as it always seems to let go after some time. I find it better to just sand the area smooth and accept the crack as a characteristic of the item.
