What materials did you use? This is a queen size scrap buster quilt containing 132 blocks. The idea for the colorful diamonds came to me after re-organizing my folded scrap fabrics--fabrics of 1 yard or less. I used approximately 6 yards of the neutral gray background fabric. To make a block, start with an 8" square of nuetral gray background fabric. Sew 3" colorful squares diagonally to all four corners of the 8" background fabric square. Press and fold over each corner seam, and trim seam to 1/4" with scissors. Diamond Quilt is pictured here in our Old Victorian home.

What are you most proud of? I'm glad to reduce my folded scrap fabric. The leftovers from this Diamond Quilt, I cut down again and moved them to my 2.5" scrap strip fabric pile and am building a quilt right now called "Black with Other Color Possibilities." I should have it finished in a couple of weeks and will post.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Fabric is expensive--so I use up everything. I organize scraps as follows: 1) Folded Fabric less than 1 yard. 2) Various Fabric Rectangles--to make linings and pockets for little zippered purses. 3) Fabric Strips 2.5" wide for strip quilts, bindings for quilts, potholders, and table runners. 4) Fabric Strips 1" wide to make fabric wrapped rope baskets, and coasters. 5) Smallest fabric pieces are collected in a big black plastic bag at the end of my cutting table. I use those tiny scraps as fill for doggy cushions. I'm a business owner, a free style long arm quilter, and designer of purses, and soft luggage.

Shoestring, I thought I sent you comment on Friday! Where'd it go? What a great quilt! It's easy to make, a super use of scraps, and very colorful. It also looks great on your bed! That long arm quilting machine must be so much fun!
