Materials
Cotton crochet thread, size 10, in 350 yd. (320 m) balls - light brown (4 balls); size 7 (1.65 mm) crochet hook; and a 5/8" diameter curtain rod. The optional tassels are created with embroidery floss attached with 6 mm jump rings.
What was your inspiration?
I love working with thread and wanted to create a romantic-style valance.
What are you most proud of?
I really like the way this turned out using a modified shell to create the filled square look of filet crochet.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
This is a great project for the intermediate crocheter. In addition to detailed instructions, a graph is also provided for reference. The valance is worked from the top down. The rod pocket is also incorporated into the design.
The finished size is 63" wide x 17" long from the rod pocket (not including tassels). Instructions are included to increase the width in 9" increments.
