Diagonal Sweater

Pattern Info

This project was designed by RebeccaZknits.
Info can be found at:

Diagonal Sweater, pattern not yet available

Instructions

Starts at the back of the neck with a single stitch plus the I-cord edge stitches, and grows from there seamlessly (except for underarm seams; you gotta decide -- garter stitch in the round or a seam.)

This is a design in progress, a geometry puzzle in the solving.

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Materials

1,300 yards bulky-weight yarn US 8/5mm 36" circular needle, used to knit back and forth Stitch markers Darning needle

What was your inspiration?

Katherine Corbey's book, "Diagonal Knitting."

What are you most proud of?

All of it. This is the most complicated -- in terms of thought, not knitting -- design I've ever done. I've had to learn a whole new way to think about knitting to produce it.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Believe that it's easier then they think.

Thank you. I was growing overwhelmed, so decided to take a break. I've just finished a new design (it will be in a book, can't post it here until the book's published.) Then, refreshed from the break, I'll dive back in to this. I do want to get the pattern down; but it's a challenge because you've really got to finish a sweater to see if a technique works; and that's a whole lot of knitting to test small changes.

I'm about to do a group test knit; hopefully to get started within the next two weeks. If anyone's interested, you can let me know here; more pictures of various sweaters in various stages of development: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.265785476830049.62099.253329841408946&type=1
