What was your inspiration?
This charity quilt top was completely designed as I went along, based upon the size and shapes of the scraps I had left over from other projects. I started with the strip-pieced fabrics in the center that had the black on two edges. I had just enough of the black left over to stitch on the other two sides of these pieces. The light blue was what was left from cutting off the edges from another quilt back. I didn't have quite enough boxes in the center to fill the center section, so finally added a few applique stars in the gaps. Even the width of the borders was decided not upon what width I thought might look the best, but on how much fabric I had left of the scraps I wanted to use. I used almost every square inch of some of those border fabrics! It was a fun project to make something nice out of scraps.
After photographing this patchwork top it had batting and backing added and was tied by other committee members in a local group which makes about 300 quilts a year for world relief efforts.
