This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Jean-ius: Reverse Engineer Your Favorite Fit »

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Casual

Materials

Dark indigo stretch denim and dove grey topstitching thread

What was your inspiration?

This is my 3rd pair of pants from this course. I received great comments when wearing my first two pairs that I decided to make some capris and next a pair of shorts. I've already started my hubby's jeans from scratch and he keeps pestering me for them :)

What are you most proud of?

I'm really pleased how the pocket detail turned out. It was kind of a half-copy from a pair of my old jeans, but it has worked so well I'm now using it on all my pants!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Always check the stretch of your fabric, it can make a huge difference to the finished project.

Give it a go! It's a great course with heaps of fantastic tips you can use across all of your sewing projects.

Wonderful job! I LOVE the grey topstitching. It really makes them spectacular. Did you use heavy topstitching thread? I am making a pair of denim shorts and am now going to use grey for topstitching. Thanks for the inspiration.

WOW! Fabulous job on the top stitching! It looks like you even used the heavy, jean top stitching thread. Is that difficult to use?

Does this class teach you how to fit the raise in your pants?

Thank you! The top stitching did take a little practice and I pulled it out and started again a few times but I'm pretty happy with the end result. I tied the threads off on the wrong side but it didn't always hold, that was my only frustration.

I find I need to knot it a few times, maybe 3 or so and then iron it to help the knots to hold.
