What was your inspiration?
My grand niece wanted a bed quilt that was mainly purple. I found the background fabric and went through my stash looking for things that would work. I needed a project to take with when I was traveling on the weekends on the way to the drag racing track. This was the perfect take a long project.
What are you most proud of?
I started this in May 2011 and will be able to give it to her for Xmas with matching pillow cases. I am most proud of making 550 yoyos by hand and sewing by hand 11 on 39 strips to complete a twin size quilt.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
The pattern was from American Patchwork and Quilting June 2011. Make sure you have plenty of time or help in making all the yoyos. It was a lot of work to do without any help , but a very rewarding project.
