Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Preppy, Funky, Classic, Cute, Casual, Hipster, Retro / Vintage, Traditional, Mod, Romantic, Whimsical

Materials

4 (4, 5) skeins Berocco Vintage (Color: Tidepool) 1 (1, 2) skein Misti Alpaca Hand Paint Lace (Color: Jazz) Size 11 circular needles, 36 inch long and 10 inch long Stitch marker

What was your inspiration?

The colors of the deep teal blue yarn and the rich jazzy colors of the alpaca really drove the design here. A simple silhouette and looser gauge for drape but enough halo to keep the warmth in much like the ocean keeps it contents fluid and encased.

What are you most proud of?

Actually that analogy I just wrote up there...

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The construction of the garment is interesting, so make sure to be attentive to that.

I love the look of this piece. would love to try it, however just doing very basic stuff right now. What level of difficulty is this?

I would say this would be a good project to move on to after the basic hats and scarves. It utilizes knitting and purling, yarn overs, a few decrease methods as well as knitting in the round. Although I think it would be a great project for first lace attempts as the lace pattern repeat is only two lines!
