Paper Crafts: Decorative boxes

Decorative boxes

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Paper Arts »

Instructions

Measure the box and the lid; allow 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch extra on edges for folding over. I used spray glue on the larger surfaces (bottom, top, sides) to get them to stay firmly in place. I used Elmer's glue and a paint brush to glue down the folds. I used the techniques illustrated in Handmade Bookbinding Techniques (by Josep Cambras) for a neat finish on the corners.

A cardboard box, decorative paper, and glue.

What was your inspiration?

Alton DuLaney's Paper Arts course, and the book Handmade Bookbinding Techniques by Josep Cambras. I wanted to create some unique and inexpensive Christmas gifts.

What are you most proud of?

How neat everything turned out.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Have fun choosing paper and boxes, and as Alton says, measure twice, cut once!
