This roving was not dyed in the traditional way- straight across the fiber, so with so much color going on i had the option to blend the colors and mute them by spinning across the web and not separating the fiber as i went- or separating the fiber and color blocks to preserve the brightness of the dye job.
I wanted to preserve the bright random and beautiful jewel tones of the fiber so i separated the colors as i went, and sometimes would remove sections to add to other areas to elongate sections of color without blending them. Staying on top of the color separation took time, but it was well worth it.
The yarn is decadent, soft as soft can be- and as i wanted to preserve the color sections I opted to N-ply it against itself. the 4 ounces of fiber became a 410 yard skein of n-plyed fingering weight yarn.
