Day-to-Night Drape Top - 5 stars!

Day-to-Night Drape Top

Day-to-Night Drape Top

Make It

This project was made from an independent Craftsy designer's pattern:
103 - Day-To-Night Drape Top »

Instructions

I used a lightweight knit stripe for this project - and finished the armholes and back neck with invisible elastic.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Holiday, Funky, Classic, Casual

Materials

Cotton/Poly striped knit.

What was your inspiration?

I adore drape necklines and wanted to try my hand at striped knits. I wanted a breezy, summer top - which I could pair with jeans and heels for a sharp look for summer drinks with friends.

What are you most proud of?

I just love the fit and the over all look of the top..

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Test sewing the elastic on a scrap first - give yourself some confidence and experiment with your stitch width.

I'm not quite sure why the drape is so pronounced on this one. I suspect it may be because 1) the fabric is very lightweight, 2) the stripes exaggerate the drape's appearance and 3) I am very narrow shouldered and have a small ribcage so the drape doesn't get pulled outwards which would diminish the look of the drape.

I like that your top has a lot of drape at the neckline. What did you do to get that much? When I make mine, I want a lot of drape. Other projects using this pattern have a smaller drape.

Definitely patter to make over and over - busting the fabrics left overs. I love this summer, sunshine and see scenery...
