King Sized Quilt

What was your inspiration?

A picture I took out the window of an airplane as I flew over the western U.S.

What are you most proud of?

I finished! It took me five years to make my first quilt, but I did it.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I'm looking for a quilt to make for future Son-In-Law and love this. Where did you find the pattern for this and are the circles appliqued?

This was my own design. I had a photograph of the fields in the central U.S. that I took out of an airplane. I was struck how they were all just squares, so I selected 48 "fields" to imitate, some were huge circular fields, some justs squares, etc. I used the colors in the picture and made a bunce of random 12" x 12" blocks that I sewed together. The bottom left corner is supposed to be a "forest" of trees. The white border is the airplane window edge. I added the burgundy border to create the drop off the bed.

oh, and no, the circles are not apliqued. They are pieced. I cut the circles and then pieced the edges on to create the squares.
