Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Classic, Cute, Romantic, Casual, Retro / Vintage

Materials

I made this dress from a vintage sheet.

What was your inspiration?

I stumbled across Lekala patterns and fell in love with the fact that the pattern was so reasonable and made to my measurements. After making up a free skirt pattern of theirs, I decided to go for a dress.

What are you most proud of?

That it fits perfectly and I didn't have to spend tons of valuable time redrafting the pattern. My 34H chest, wide waist and tiny bottom make for tricky pattern alterations and this was a huge time saver as the pattern was customized to my measurements.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

You do need some sewing knowledge as the instructions are good, but basic.

So I checked out the site where you got the pattern a bit more, and it seems like such a great idea! I'll be trying out one of their free tops first I think. Skirts I find easy, but I really struggle with tops being top heavy. Thanks so much for posting!

So, you really needed to make no alterations? I have your same body build and design my own patterns, it just takes forever, and I'm always too scared to go for non-stretchy fabric. Really no issues with the pattern?? Was it easy to follow? Is the bodice lined? Thank you for your help!
