Dane's Quilt

Pattern Info

Pattern info for this project can be found here:
Diamond Double by Cozy Quilt Designs

Instructions

I used a pattern for the main quilt, but added a pieced border with 3-D blocks on my own.

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Unisex

Style: Classic, Retro / Vintage, Traditional

Materials

cotton, cotton batting

What was your inspiration?

I made this quilt for my son Dane, who is a young fashion designer, which means he is very opinionated! He chose the colours for it, I saw this pattern in Houston last year at the quilt market, and I knew I had to make it. Dane loves the 3-D style blocks, so I incorporated them into the design.

What are you most proud of?

Dane loves it!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Read through the instructions before you begin.

Wonderfully bold and dramatic! This must have taken some precise piecing work. I love the assortment of blue fabrics, all the same value; that adds so much subtle complexity to enjoy in the close-up view. Beautifully done!

Even before I read the description. the Navy and tan in that configuration screamed "Teenage Boy" I know my greatgrandson would love it. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Great job

You did an absolutely beautiful and flawless job on this quilt! I love the 3D block border. I know that you are extremely proud of your work, and you should be. Your son is extremely lucky to have such a talented mother!

Thank everyone so much, this quilt was fun to do, the instructions on the pattern are great. The borders were my added touch, and not in the pattern. The pattern is Diamond Double from Cozy Quilt Designs and they do have a website.

WOW that is beautiful! I love the blues you've used! I wouldn't have guessed if I saw the bolts of fabric side by side that they could possibly work together. You obviously put a lot of work into it. Good work!
