Instructions

I did some slight modifications. Did not use cornerstones in the sashing, did not do the wave in the border, enlarged the block slightly and added more blocks. My quilt ended up being 58X58.

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Charity

Style: Outdoorsy, Traditional

Materials

Cotton fabrics, cotton batting, poly thread.

What was your inspiration?

We were having a silent auction fundraiser for the yearbook at my son's school. Their mascot is the dolphin. I wanted to do something to help raise funds. Searched and found this pattern online. Used fabric that I already has (except for the green squares).

What are you most proud of?

That it raised $150 for the school and a good friend had the winning bid. This is my first quilt that I have actually sold. Had a bit of a bidding war going on with it. I also felt like such a celebrity because everyone was amazed at the dolphins I stitched in the border (thanks to the machine quilting class here on crafts for giving me some very helpful tips and encouragement to tackle this project).

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't be afraid to alter a pattern that you like.

Love the dolphins. Don't see many quilts with them on it.

Thanks, I fused them on and then did a machine blanket stitch around them.
