Dad's Quilt

Instructions

I took the basic idea for the half square triangles around the central panel from a magazine. Then I added a friendship braid which was prepared using a creative grids Jelly Roll Trapezoid ruler. I used a variety of dog prints which I purchased at quilt shows around the UK. Dad was very pleased with his christmas present quilt

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Men

Style: Cute, Casual

Materials

100 per cent cotton fabrics in greens, browns and dog prints, around a central dog panel.

What was your inspiration?

A magazine article

What are you most proud of?

I have made a number of quilts but this is the first one that I have made for my Dad. We love our westies and so I am proud to have made this quilt for my Dad.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Try not to use too many directional prints on the half square triangles. I had to make extra ones after getting the dogs the wrong way up on a few of them.

I bought the westie panel from Ebay but I have also seen the same panel at my local patchwork shop in Plymouth United Kingdom.
