What was your inspiration?

Lorna and I collaborated on another special quilt for my father's 80th birthday. The fabrics were chosen to represent things Dad liked and/or did during his life. It was so much fun to collect the fabrics over the course of several months. Lorna pieced the middle of the quilt top, and I added the borders using leftover fabric. Then I machine quilted it and added a label. We presented it to Dad at his 80th birthday party.

What are you most proud of?

Dad was proud of US for making this special quilt.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't be in a hurry to select the fabrics. In addition to your LQS (local quilt shop), search online for fabrics. You will be amazed at how many novelty fabrics there are. Think about hobbies, sports, animals, job experiences, places lived, things collected, and other things that the person likes. Google these things with the word 'fabric' and see what you can find!
