Custom Yoke Sweater »

Instructions

Amy recommended a hat for a gauge swatch. I used the gauge times my husband's head and then the colorwork patterns from Amy's "gardeners folly". I knit the hat and went back to pick up and knit the facing - really easy and a nice headband for the hat that does not bind.

Hi all - Thanks for your kind comments on the hat - hubby loves it too. I wanted you to know I can't take credit for the colors - they came in the kit - I just flipped them and made the brown the background color. I wish I could pick colors like Amy too!

Thanks PD! I did the hem on the hat exactly as called for in the sweater so it was good practice as I had never created a hemmed facing. I learned that the colorwork in the body made it easy to keep the hem lined up as I sewed it down. I might put a band of color at 2" on the body of the sweater to help keep the hem lined up. Also the PU & knit at the hemline created a nice attractive bead of sorts to finish the edge of the hat.
