What was your inspiration?

Valentines Day and the padded hearts hanging from the door handles throughout my home. My sister suggested it might be fun to have Cupid's arrow going through a heart. Well no sooner did the words leave her mouth did my imagination start working on the idea of another mug rug..

What are you most proud of?

I like that this mug rug also doubles as a decorative ornament. When it is not in use it hangs from a hook by the side of my worktable.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Pad the quill and arrowhead firmly so that they stay in place. Have fun with the quilting - if you are experienced you could add hearts or free-style stipple quilting.
If you just want an ornament then you could add a lot more buttons - maybe outline the heart in buttons. However, this wouldn't work for a mug rug - the mug might topple over.
