The cable isn't really a cable, it is a fancy trick with crossing elongated slipped stitches. It makes what would otherwise be a ho-hum knit much more interesting. But not too interesting that your average "guy" is going to find the end product too "fussy".Difficulty:

What was your inspiration?
Well, mostly it was the fact that my Dad's birthday was coming up and I didn't have a gift. The only thing that I had crafted for him was a crocheted can cozy that he uses non-stop. I had asked him if he needed a hat, and he said no. But who can't use another hat?
What are you most proud of?
I really like the way the decreases work at the top. I think it kinda looks like the top of a window - and with the beautiful variegated yarn, the window could be stained glass.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Pick a yarn on the heavy side of worsted, some of the lighter weight worsted yarns might not give you a big enough hat.
