#15 CROSS
Instructions
This pattern came from a book titled "The Crotcher's Quilt Book" by Elyse Sommer. It was published in 1986.The designs are classic quilt blocks translated into crotchet. The colors in the book are dated but it's a great reference book if you love to quilt and crotchet.

What was your inspiration?
I love to quilt and crotchet. This was a great project to do on long road trips or waiting at the doctor's office because you're doing a block at a time.
What are you most proud of?
That I completed it! I work 8 to 10 hours a day and sometimes weekends. Plus my family keeps me super busy. Let's not forget cleaning, laundry, etc and a garden. So the fact that I completed it,..my back hurts from my own pats! LOL
Also it's a classic design and the colors are very basic, dare I say, Amish colors. Timeless.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
The solid blocks are super easy, basic squares. The Cross block is deceptive. The middle 'square' is actually crotcheted in the round! Yes, in the round! This in turn will give you the correct amount of stitches for you to add on the Cross (white). The challange was filling in the triangle sections (black). I had a hard time with that part of the instructions but eventually figured it out and did my own thing.
If you want to test your skills but not kill yourself too much, give it a try, I see that Amazon still sells the book or you could probably find it in the library.
