What was your inspiration?

I had bought some yarn that reminded me of dreadlocks and I got this idea. The first try didn't work out, because the yarn was actually to thin. You have to use a roving yarn for size 19 needles.

What are you most proud of?

That I actually wrote the pattern, it took quite some time to write all the steps and give all the background information, I had never done it before. I researched other patterns to see the methods and terminology and tried to stay within those same guidelines and organization.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This hat is crochet on the inside with yarn A except for the turn-up (yarn B), and then the dreadlocks (yarn B) are threaded through and tied into a pony tail on the outside.
The outer yarn (yarn B) should be a thick and thin changing yarn that would be knitted on size 13 - 19 knitting needles, generally referred to as super bulky, and/ or roving yarn. You can use all of the same yarn, or mix variegated and solids for a striped effect.
