Using the skills & techniques from the Craftsy Sew Little: Nursery Design class, take this project to the next level. The linked project was modified to include the French Seams, Blind Hem Stitch & Ruffling demonstrated in the class for a professional looking finish.Difficulty:
Category: Sewing
Type of item: Home Decor
For: Infant/Baby
Style: Cute
Materials
Home dec weight fabric
What was your inspiration?
The inspiration was a pillow on display at a local home dec materials store (Mill Outlet, Raleigh NC). My son's teacher and I used it to build a whole nursery decor for her first grandbaby.
What are you most proud of?
How professional the french seams and blind hem were that I integrated into the design. Not something I woiuld have even conceived of before taking the Sew Little Nursery Design course on Craftsy.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Like Dorie says "Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming." Don't let your mind defeat you. You can do it! Ruffles, french seams, blind hems, they all seem scary until you work through them. And if you make a mistake...that is what your seam ripper is for. Also make sure you have the right tools for the job. A tuned up sewing machine and nice sharp shears are going to make any project so much more do-able.
