What materials did you use? 2 pairs of pants - black Levi's for the contrast and for the main fabric, a pair of white, grey, and black Gloria Vanderbilt jeans from the thrift store that I paid .50 cents for (yay!), Asian themed lining fabric, recycled hardware from thrift store purses, regular & purse zippers, various charms and a recycled tassel.

What are you most proud of? I am most proud of actually completing this project!!! I tend to be a perfectionist and will not even start working on something if I think it'll not look decent when I'm done. I'm also proud of myself for being able to "let go" and just enjoy the process of creating without trying to be perfect in the process and not even starting for fear of messing up. The bag turned out WAY better than I imagined! So happy I finally DID IT, especially since I signed up for this class when it was new, lol. Brett Bara is a great instructor!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Measure Twice, Cut Once!!! Very important especially if you are working with a limited about of fabric. Also, because I wanted my outside flap wider than the pocket, I had to "cut the corners" so to speak so I could sew down the flap on the inside of the pocket. You may have to "improvise" on some things. I had to figure out how to install the double-slider purse zipper without cutting the ends and leaving a tab. It was most challenging but most satisfying doing as Tim Gunn (Project Runway) says, "Make It Work"

Thank you Ryan, and congratulations in advance on your first bag! Thank you Ryan, and congratulations in advance on your first bag! The bag's completed dimensions are follows: 18in from top to bottom, 15in wide across the top, 10in wide across the bottom, and 14in in length along each side./// I remade this bag using tan vynil with brown vynil trim. Sewing the outside pocket's flap onto the bag body was definitely a challenge for me (one I was able to overcome). Keep it fun, don't obsess over mistakes, and in the end you'll have a beautiful designer bag made by yours truly (Ryan)! Enjoy... :-D

Thank you Judy B! This was the best use of "vintage" Gloria Vanderbilt pants (other than wearing them, haha) I could think of. I actually had fun making this bag, thanks again :-)

Love all your bags. They turned out great. This is my favorite...or...maybe the red one. Hard to decide.

Hi Redboxeds, Thank you so much! This is actually my favorite bag as well. Matter of fact, I still carry it everyday! It's pretty durable as well as cute (been machine washed several times), lol. The pandes in the pocket still make me smile...I love this bag :-)

P.S. The red bucket bag was given away to a friend who loves animal print and fell in love with the zebra print lining I sewed on the inside of it, lol.

I completely missed the lining and the pandas. They are adorable. I always try to use beautiful fabrics for the linings - they make me happy even if I'm the only one that sees them. Joyce.
