Materials

I didn't make this quilt, but I wanted to share it. A co-worker of mine makes them by special order through my website. They are made from left over pieces of wool tartan that I've used making kilts, and left over pieces of cotton velvet that I've used for dancer's vests and jackets. There is no batting between the layers, as the wool and velvet is quite heavy. It is backed with cotton velvet. This particular quilt sits on display in my living room...I only use it when I'm freezing as it is very warm! (I'm also afraid of ruining it) Of course you have to be a tartan lover to like this, but the work she put in to it with the embroidery stitches is amazing. I asked her to keep it simple for my quilt as I'm not a fan of lots of flowers and fancy embroidery.

Is it quilted through all the layers, including the backing?

Thank you, I absolutely love it! 90% of the tartans I use come from Scotland.

This quilt is beautiful & so very unique. Very well done. I really like all of the patterns that are in the wool tartan & the velvet really sets them off. Her stitches are wonderful also. Thank you for sharing.

What I love about this quilt is the fact that when I'm gone, my daughter/son will have a quilt that is made from the scraps of many of the kilts I have done....kind of a memory quilt in a way.
