Instructions

Page 26 will be the beginning of the instructions for this beautiful little bag! My bag looks somewhat different because I had somewhat different materials, but I think it turned out alot like the one in the book! I love it.

Difficulty:

Category: Embroidery

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Retro / Vintage, Whimsical, Romantic

Materials

This is found on page 26 of the book 21 Sensational Patchwork bags and that book is where the link below will take you.

What was your inspiration?

My inspiration was my cousin Lorinda. I was making this as her "Pay it Forward" gift and she makes jewelry. I envisioned her using it as a jewelry pouch for some reason, or a clutch with a little black dress...for a very special occasion.

What are you most proud of?

I am proud to have completed the project and replicated the original for the most part with the exception of being able to duplicate the fabrics...it is still a one of a kind, that is for sure!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make sure if you are foundation piecing a piece going at an odd angle that you have cut an extra large piece of fabric and figured out how the material will fold once it is flipped so that it covers all the necessary area. Foundation piecing is easy once you learn all the little tricks to the shapes.

I truly love this. I have tons of satins and fabrics that would be just the ticket for these types. I used to embroider but sold the machine so I am a hand worker now. I went to amazon and found the book and am buying it. I love making handbags and mixing crochet with fabric is too too cool. Thanks for the tip! Bless you!

I also use "Readers Digest Complete Guide to Embroidery Stitches" to come up with all the different embroidery stitches if you need a resource for that. It's a great book, too! I'd love to have a bag like this alot bigger, but I'd be scared to carry it around, the materials are so delicate! It'd be pretty though!

its hand embroidery, not crochet on there...you use an embroidery needle but the stitching is similar to crochet. You could probably catch on quick if you know how to crochet and machine embroider I think...let me know if you have questions when you get started!
