Make It

This project was made from an independent Craftsy designer's pattern:
Bead Embroidery Stitches »

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Charity

Style: Traditional, Victorian / Steampunk, Classic

Materials

Fabric and beads

What was your inspiration?

My 2009 entry to the Alliance for American Quilts, Crazy for Quilts contest. The quilt was featured in the 2010 April/May issue of Quilters Newsletter as well as the June 2010 Victorian Homes Magazine.

the main block in Crazy for Beads is 12" square and finished with a 2" border. I decided not to do any beading in the border and will add a beaded picot biding to the edge. I think the motifs and border fabric that I added to the block created a subtle Asian feel to the design that is quite pleasing.

Love your embellishments, Amy. Some day, I'll get back into that too. Too many things take over your life and you find yourself not doing what you really love. Great stitching . . . colors are great.

That is absolutely lovely, Amy! You must have boundless patience to complete all that embroidery. The flower makes a very necessary focal point that draws the eye into the piece. Congratulations - I love the details of the little insects too.

I loved this quilt when it was finished, all of the design elements really came together well. I have found I really love bead embroidery, it does take time, but the texture it adds is well worth it.

Thank you. It is not as hard as you would think, but it does take time building the beaded seams.
