What was your inspiration?
I wanted a longer bolero - same short sleeves but longer in the waist. Ended up closing it with the Kirchner (sp) stitch and making it a pullover because for some reason I wanted a herringbone button band. The herringbone rolls, it doesn't lay flat. I should've taken it all out and replaced it with seed stitch.
The stitch pattern for the arms and the waist was from a pattern I saw in vogue knitting. It is a simple lace stitch which requires two rows. When knit in the round, you knit 4 stitches then pearl one stitch. You repeat this until the end. The next round your knit 4 stitches then pearl into the stitch below. Repeat these two rows for as long as you want the lace pattern.
Before and after the lace pattern, I did one row of eyelets as Myra recommends.
What are you most proud of?
The sleeves are the same length :-)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Make sure you know your measurements - bust, waist, back neck as Myra explains and know the distance between them vertically so you're increasing or decreasing stitches as needed to get a custom fit.
I wouldn't use herringbone in the button band.
