Instructions

Using worsted weight yarn and an N hook, I held two strands of the same color together and chained enough to almost fit the chair pad width-wise. Then I crocheted in single crochet (changing color every 4 rows) until it was twice as long as I needed it to be. I wanted this to be cushion-y like a folded blanket. So I folded it in half and did a few rows of single crochet, then finished with a ...

What was your inspiration?

Papa Feral. He is a feral cat we started to care for when we moved into this apartment complex 5 years ago. We've earned his trust over time, and have had him vetted (shots, meds, neuter, physical exam, ear-tipping). Two years ago, he started coming inside during winter days/nights. He always went straight to my bed, where he adopted my husband's afghan. This season, he has decided he likes us/trusts us enough to come out and be social...and has adopted (taken claim to) my father-in-law's old chair. In honor of his bravery, I decided to make Papa his very own catghan. So now I am officially a crazy cat lady.

What are you most proud of?

That my love and patience has won this once-tough feral cat over. That he is able to relax and be loved and cared for as he should have right from the beginning. No cat should ever have to have Papa's early life. SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR CATS, PEOPLE! There are PROGRAMS that will help! And please, for the love of all things feral and in one piece, keep your cats INDOORS. They really are not "better off" to "roam free" in most circumstances. (Think wild animals, cars, warm but deadly car engines, disease, etc.)
*I shall get off my soapbox for now*

:)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make something sweet for your pet and cute for your home! Maybe don't put too much catnip on your catghan because Papa went kinda crazy and started ripping at it with his teeth. I'll save the nip for a tougher toy that can take it. ;)

Fab idea, doubled w/o padding, lucky puss to have found you. Query tho, is this sc through both loops?

Thank you! He has taught me a few things, too. Yes, the sc is through both loops. Papa just loves, loves, loves it! :)
