Crayon Box Blanket

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Category: Crocheting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Unisex

Style: Funky, Casual

Materials

4 ply worsted weight yarn 1 7oz skein each of Blue Red Yellow Orange Green Purple and 2 7oz skeins Black Size J hook yarn needle

What was your inspiration?

I wanted a blanket with all the colors of a crayon box. It was actually a birthday present to myself.

What are you most proud of?

The pattern is very simple but it was my own creation. I had no idea how the finished product would look because I didn't know what type of border that I was going to use until I started working on it. I just found a stitch that I really liked and worked it out in my head as I went along.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

It is a simple pattern but it did take some time to finish. I lost patience with it several times since I wasn't actually following a pattern (unfortunately, I didn't write it down either) Take plenty of breaks when making the border to give your eyes and hands a rest.

By altering which direction they are facing, your black looks good. I can see you did this to have one easy edge. Not sure others will understand this comment. When not done, the side edges look tacky in black. I've tried. Good idea!

How many double crotchets and how many rows? I have tried to do a square similar and can't make it square.

This was done in hdc, I'll have to look at it again and count the rows. I made it about 7 years ago and I didn't write the pattern down
