Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Instructions

The only thing that I ended up doing after I had to rip a whole square out on the String Block is to also draw the line down. I obviously can't stitch a straight line and my fabric didn't lne up. Much easier having a guide to follow on the first strips.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Classic, Cute, Casual, Whimsical

Materials

Various fabrics from a collection called "Sunny" from Joann Fabrics.

What was your inspiration?

To learn how to quilt.

What are you most proud of?

That so far I think I'm doing a darn good job and I'm loving the color combination.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I bought cheaper fabric from my local craft store because I knew I'd be ripping seams out at least once. By using coupons and cheaper fabric I'm learning so when I'm confident in my skills I'll be able to spend the extra money on nice, quality fabric

Hello Sew Rip Repeat, My neighbor Bryon is using exactly the same fabrics in her Blocks too. Watch out soon for her Blocks. There is obviously variations to her blocks due to her own individuality!!!! But, nevertheless we love your blocks. Julieannbell from Adelaide South Australia.

Love your fabrics! I am a frequent seam ripper as well. I even broke my seam ripper on the last project I did! The multiple needle marks blend away after washing! It is all part of learning, at least that is what I tell myself.

I really like the fabric you chose. That is such a great idea for beginning quilters to buy less expensive fabric for your first quilt. I think that you are doing terrific. Thanks for sharing.
