Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Funky, Traditional, Mod

Materials

Kaffe Fassett Fabrics and selected batiks

What was your inspiration?

I thought it might be fun to see them all together...they won't be in this order, but I placed them in the order that we created them.

What are you most proud of?

I love the fabrics I'm working with.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

if you want to see all of your blocks in a nice neat orderly fashion...you can go to a software package online...it's free...called Mosaic Maker by Big Huge Labs. www.bighugelabs.com
Very easy to use and lots of fun!

Love the fabrics you are using, especially love the block in the middle of the third row (can't think of the name of it off hand).

I could see many people enjoying the fabrics in this quilt...I plan to get some of his fabrics as well. Great job.

I don't even know where to begin... KF fabrics always 'get to me' -- really love them. A friend of mine made an entire quilt with his fabrics, and I was privileged to help with all the fussy cutting -- over a hundred flowers... It was my initiation into quilting... and I loved it!!! It is wonderful to see all of your blocks together! I will def check out the website you used - it will be helpful, I think, when arranging the final quilt. Also...as long as I am blabbering on.... I have to add, that everytime I see your kitty photo, I just have to smile.... Yours is a twin to my "Lambchop" our sweet and timid 8-year-old rescue kitty.... same adorable face! :)

Is everyone thinking this is going to be a HUGE quilt? With 4 months to go, the quilt is growing in size with just the blocks laid out. Wow. I better get busy and get to my August blocks!!

Applekrisp - I laughed to myself when you mentioned doing a remake of the block with the gold. I have two that need a remake also due to color choice. I almost suggested in my previous post (weakly) that maybe a gold fabric would be interesting because of that one gold block seemed a little lonely. I just did not want to appear critical....as your work is so great. Beause I have so little background fabric left, I had to rip and reuse a coupleof my triangles for my redo. Talk about patience!

I discovered with one of mine which had "too much pink" compared to the others that a light dash of fabric paint did the trick and gave it an entirely different look. And, no seam ripper!! (if you do this, be sure to use fabric paints, diluted works well, and heat set them as directed.)

Alyx, I always love your cat photo! I have such a soft spot for kitties. You couldn't tell could you? Thanks for the compliments. Kaffe Fassett fabrics are doing all the "work" here. They are so much fun to play with. I am anxious for the next two months blocks, I want to get this quilt together and see how it all turns out myself!

Decisions, decisions is right, You will have a lot of options on sashing and borders, but am sure you will make the right choice. You can see that everyone loves your work.........how beautiful this is. I still lthink KF needs a photo of your finished quilt to see how wonderfully you have used his fabrics.

Surfside6, you are sooooo right, lots of decisions. I'm going to wait till we get the last two months of blocks done and then I'm going to remake the one with the gold to integrate where I need it. Not sure how I'm going to put it all together. Wondering what it might look like on point?

So great seeing them all together - as usual, LOVE, LOVE them! You are going to give so many quilters Kaffe Fasset envy. Black sashing? maybe a light KF pattern sashing? Decisions, decisions - but great fun.

Itr's very useful to see all the blocks (so far) in order as I haven't started yet! Do you think you'll eventually use sashing between them, or will you join them without? Whichever you choose, I'm sure your quilt will be lovely.

Yes - we've had a wonderful year, what with the Jubilee and the Olympics, despite the weather that's been absolutely horrible! However, we have a heatwave at present and the temperature guage in the car showed 36 this afternoon when I parked outside the supermarket (I think that's about 90 degrees in Fahrenhiet, but I'm not sure). What are the chances that tomorrow it'll go back to what we've had this summer, with rain and temperatures around 17 degrees (goodness knows what that is in "old money")!

Hi Patz, I am not sure how she has us finish the quilt top, I am anxious to see myself. I think there are two more months of blocks and then we put things together. I guess it will be more to be revealed! Andrew flew back out to London yesterday. I'm going to have to start asking him for fabric, I have enough tea...lol...and those English biscuits are a little fattening, which I certainly don't need right now, I am way fat enough! The Olympics were amazing, you must be very proud of your country.
