Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Instructions

It's easier to start out with wider strips, and then cut them down to fit the block. I used strips that were 2" to 2.5" wide.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Whimsical, Cute, Retro / Vintage

What was your inspiration?

I love funky log cabin blocks, though I've never made one. I was excited to try that technique out on this block. I decided to start with a 4-sided block in the center so the final block would look more like a log cabin.

What are you most proud of?

The fun use of prints and colors within the block.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I found that the log cabin look of the block showed up more when I used a similar color in each round.

Love the colors, variety of prints, and whimsical look of the block! I'm inspired to try the same today.

Thank you! I had fun incorporating different prints while still having the block feel cohesive.
