Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Instructions

Take your time working through videos and patterns. Scant q/4 inch seam is key throughout.

Next month: sashing and borders ... Can't wait!!!

First draft of layout of blocks, may change before stitched.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Funky, Classic, Whimsical

Materials

Background: RedRooster, geese, tone-on-tone burgundy Assorted fat quarters of different colors and prints.

What was your inspiration?

Craftsy class started it. Finding the dark burgundy RedRooster fabric for the background made the rest much easier.

What are you most proud of?

That the blocks turned out 12.5 inches square! That was difficult at times and some needed squaring and trimming

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Practice your scant 1/4 inch seam a few times and learn where that is for your machine. Make a four or nine patch square to see if the end size is correct. Remember that the more seams in a block, the more chance for ending up with a different size block. One suggestion from my sister was to add a small border of the background around the block. That might work in this sampler quilt, but not in a multiple blocks within a quilt.
