I had the same thought - quilt as you go - to learn free motion techniques. I love your color scheme and choice of neutral for your background fabric. Can hardly wait to see how you assemble and finish it! Lovely work!

Thank you! I've struggled with selecting colors so I really tried to stick to 4 colors and I am much happier with the results. There is so much to know when quilting!!

Your quilting is amazing. I am inspired by your technique of the quilting done as you go, block by block. I can hardly wait to get started.

Thank you. I haven't put the blocks together yet, but the quilting is so much easier this way.

These are really great! I love your fabrics and the way you are quilting them. I'm thinking you have a great idea about quilting each square separately, especially since I'm pretty new at the quilting part.

Thank you. I found that as a beginner I couldn't do much with a large quilt other than straight/curved lines with my walking foot which is fine.

Thanks so much! I am. I found working with an entire quilt frustrating so I am quilting each block separately. So much easier. I'll put sashing between them to join the blocks.

Oops - I have another question. Do you quilt on your regular sewing machine or a long arm? I just finished taking the quilting on a home machine class so am interested in the quilting part of it. Thanks.

I'm using a regular sewing machine; that's why I'm doing block by block. I find FMQing difficult on big quilts, I thought that doing block by block would help me build my skills and it has. Good luck!

Do you have your quilt blocks sewn together already or are you quilting them as you go along?

I haven't sewn them together yet. I made the batting and backing 15 x 15 and then will determine how to trim them after I decide what order to put them in.
