Cozy Cardigan

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
The Perfect Fit Seamless Crazy Lace Cardigan »

Instructions

As Myra explained how to add lace to a project, the same approach can be used to add cables. Cables tend to decrease the width of the fabric, they could be used for accentuated waist shaping.

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Classic, Outdoorsy

Materials

Hand spun alpaca and some commercial alpaca

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to have a touch of fair isle around the yoke but didn't want to follow a detailed color chart. Also wanted some visual detail that continued down the back after the color changes ended; thus, the cables.

What are you most proud of?

Getting the button band to fit properly with the buttons. So many times, sweaters are too large around the neck and constantly slip. This pattern helps eliminate that struggle.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If I were to do this again, I would use the lighter color around the yoke and have the darker color along the sleeves and around the body.

I LOVE your sweater! I've been wanting to knit a top down sweater and add cables. Yours turned out great and I love your yarn & color too!

I signed up for the Celtic Cable class on Sunday. She presentes the bottom up appraoch for seamless kniting while Myra does the top down approach. I'm interested in finding out which works best for me
