Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Materials

I used to wonder why participants posted pics of their muslins/toiles; now I know why, I feel like I've already made a dress!! Waiting on some silk to start the underlining...

What are you most proud of?

Well, the dress fits Sylvia and Sylvia has had heaps of padding to be me, so hopefully it will fit me too, just haven't got round to trying it on yet :(

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Patience is a virtue!

I have a formal dinner to go to next weekend, so I will be making a wearable toile for it in a deep green rayon (really beautiful fabric). It will be my third toile (can't work out how to post pics of number 2) and I think it will give me the confidence to forge ahead with my couture version of the dress.

A mid-blue silk dupion... it cost a fortune and I gently washed it, but it didn't handle it that well and needs to be re-ironed :(

Wish I had taken photos of my toile, which is now unpicked. What fabric are you using?

Oops, that should read as " dress"!
