What materials did you use? Muslin so far. For fashion fabrics, I'm thinking the blue silk poplin with a silk print lining. The poplin is crisp and matte and I think it will make something that's plenty dressy, but not so fancy I'd feel overdressed anywhere. The silk just feels lovely and what a treat to have such a fun lining!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you're going to post your project online, remember to take a picture of the final fitted muslin before you rip it apart!

You look great - awesome fit for the muslin

This going to be fantastic. The circle skirt gives you a lovely figure. Love your fun fabric. I think it will have a 50"s feel. Can't wait to see the final product!

Your dress muslin looks great. I preferred the fuller skirt also. Did you finish your dress yet?

The muslin does look really good and I do love the skirt. I have been contemplating whether to take his class, and one of the deciding issues for me would be over fit. I read your note that you had a friend help you with the fit. Does Susan provide any instructions on how to size the pattern and work on fitting tips in this class?

So, it has been years since I made the muslin. About 3.5 years. I sewed it back together and it still fit nicely so finally I'm going forward with the project. I've got the underlining basted on and have done my initial basting of the fashion fabrics. On my muslin I had added a little length to the bodice but in my fashion fabric I feel like the center line is too low so I'll be taking that out. I also feel like the midriff band is a bit big. I'm going to take it in a smidge at the side and front seams. The back seems to fit OK but I'll need to have a second opinion from someone who can see the whole thing before I decide what to do with that.
